Two suspects have been intercepted as they attempted to smuggle 300kg of Marijuana into the country on Monday morning.
Daniel Okoth and Erick Ombima made their way into the country through the Kenya – Tanzania Boarder through Nyametaburo route and later join Isebania – Migori highway at Mabera.
However, intelligence from the DCI and officer from the Isebania Police Station blocked the trio along the Karamu Bridge area to unpack the contents of the heavy Toyota Prado.
The driver attempted to drive past the officers nearly running over one of them. But the vigilant officers fired rapid shots at the accelerator foot terminating the get away.
One male suspect managed to escape leaving Okoth and Ombimba in the hands of the officers who eventually impounded 6 bags of Marijuana valued at Ksh. 9 million street price.
Meanwhile, the suspects are being held at Isibania Police Station awaiting arraignment while a manhunt has been lunched for the suspect on the run.
