Two Children Dead After Fire Breaks Out in Kagumo, Kirinyaga

Police in Kagumo, Kirinyaga County are investigating a fire incident that killed two children in a residential plot near Kagumo Trading Centre in Kirinyaga Central Constituency on Monday night.

The incident happened at around 8 pm, where two children aged 4 months and 4 years were burnt beyond recognition.

According to the residents and police, the mother of the two children had gone to the market to buy food when the incident occured.

Neighbours and firefighters from the Kirinyaga County Government had difficulty putting out the fire which destroyed over 20 houses and two lives.

They have called for support from well-wishers and government as they were left with nothing.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Allasow said the fire started in one of the affected houses before spreading quickly to other wooden houses.

The two bodies, burnt beyond recognition, were taken to Kerugoya Mortuary.
