UDA assures aspirants and members of free and fair grassroot election

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party National Elections Board (NEB) has assured residents of West Pokot County that the first phase of the grassroots election slated for April 26, 2024, will be conducted in a free and fair manner.

UDA Party National Elections Board officials led by Jimmy Kahindi and Mary Mutinga made the assurances while sensitising party members and participants on the preparation for the election at Nasokol Girls’ secondary school.

They said it will be the first time that the UDA elections will be conducted by electronic means and the officials have made the necessary arrangements to ensure its success.

The members and participants were sensitised on how to use the electronic devices for voting, where in the officials confirmed that the voting gadgets will be distributed to the polling stations in advance.

Mr Kahindi assured the residents that all phases of the election, starting from April 26, June 22, August 10, and August 24, will be free and fair.

Speaking during the function, the area County Commissioner (CC) Abdullahi Khalif emphasised the importance of maintaining peace during the election process.

He urged the residents to avoid any actions that could disrupt the peace and security of the region.

Khalif stated that elections are a matter of winning or losing for the aspirants, and there is no need to cause insecurity.

The county commissioner stressed that the National Administration Officers (NGAO) are committed to providing security measures in a non-partisan manner.

The county commissioner urged the residents to maintain peace throughout the UDA grassroots election.

Peter Kattam, the County police commander reassured the members and participants of the grassroots adequate security during the exercise.
