Manchester city manager pep Guardiola has expressed his confidence on his team ahead of their last premiere league fixture of the 2023 /24 season im a clash against West Ham on Sunday.
Guardiola says that city are able to pull another magical performance and defend the Premier league title for a historic fourth consecutive season if they emerge victorious against the Hammers at Etihad.
“We’d like to be 3-0 up after 10 minutes vs West Ham… but it will not happen”.
“I have a feeling it will be like Aston Villa in 2022. We are ready. My players will never give up”. Guardiola said.
City are currently leading the title race top of the table with 88 points, two ahead of their closest rivals Arsenal but the Gunners are ahead with a goal difference of 61 against City’s 60.
City require a solid victory to win the league while Arsenal are optimistic that city might drop a point to set their hands on the title for the first time since the 2004 invincible season.
City are on the hunt for maximum points since draw will see city lose the league by goal difference if Arsenal win against Everton.
This is yet another season where the Premier league title race will be decided on the final match day similar to the 2021/2022 season where City came back from two goals behind to win 3-2 against Aston Villa in the final match day, a victory that saw them win the league ahead of Liverpool by just a point.
Meanwhile, West Ham manager David moyes has ruled out any attempt by his side to be influenced by the steam of the Premier league title decider.
“We’re not playing to make Manchester City lose the Premier League and we’re not playing to make Arsenal win the Premier League.
” We’re playing for West Ham and we’re trying to win the game for West Ham. We can’t finish lower than ninth, which is a really good league position for West Ham in alot of ways.”Moyes said.
The Premier league season will end on Sunday Ushering in the UEFA EURO 2024 and the South America libetadores waiting for June.
