Bayer leverkusen manage Xabi Alonso has made a formal decision to stay at the club until his release clause is activated in 2025.
This comes amidst high interests from Bayern Munchen and Liverpool all battling to lure the manager at their respective courts.
Meanwhile, Liverpool had left the race earlier this week after clear indication that he would be staying at Leverkusen. Liverpool will rather shift their persuit to Ruben Amorim as their alternative to replace departing manager Jurgen Klopp with other names expected to be will be discussed internally.
Bayern Munich had remained optimistic to sign Alonso but they have today been informed of the formal decision which will also shift their attention to Brighton & Hove Albion’s manage Roberto De Zerbi as a potential replacement for Thomas Tuckel.
In summer 2025, release clause into Xabi Alonso’s contract will become active to decide his future club.In the meantime, Xabi will be involved in planning new signings with Bayer, and also keeping stars at the club like Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool, FC Bayern and Real Madrid will still monitor Xabi for the future.
The 42 year old has had a stellar performance this season leading Luverkusen to 44 games Unbeaten, winning 35 times, and are only eight matches away from winning their first Bundesliga title, currently leading the table with 10 points away from defending champions Bayern Munich.
They are also at the Semi Finals of the German DFB Pokal and the quarter Finals of the carabao cup.
