Angela Okutoyi has advanced into the finals at the African Games in Ghana after knocking out world No.62 Mayar Sherif on Wednesday afternoon.

Angie won 2-1 with (5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5) after a grueling 4 hours and 27 minutes.

Okutoyi and her patner Cynthia Cheruto progressed into doubles semi-final after a (6-2, 3-6, 12-10) win over Christabel Chisongo and Naomi Chileshe of Angola yesterday.The powerful duo commander a hard fight from 6-9 down in the tie-break to a 12-10 win.

Angella had edged past another Egyptian Mema Mostafa through to the quarter finals in 6/3 6/3 victory.

The world Number 532 will battle either Egyptians Sandra Samir or Lamis Elhussein in the Finals.

The 20 year old is eager to make her maiden debut in the Olympics games coming in August in Paris, France.
