In what has been seen as an extension of awards to Loyalty. President William Ruto has made new appointments to various state agencies with firmiliar faces from his political backyard boys reaping big again.
The President has appointed Benjamin Washiali to be the chairperson of the Board of the Tourism Regulatory Authority for three years.
“In Exercise of powers conferred by section 8 (1) (a) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the interpretation and General provisions Act, 1, William Ruto, President of the republic of Kenya and commander – in – Chief of the Defence Forces, Appoint, Benjamin.J. Washiali. to be the chairperson of rhe board of Tourism regulatory Authority, for a period of Three (3) years, With effect from the 15th, March, 2024” The Gazette Notice No. 3034 Tourism Act read.
Washiali’s appointment saw the revokation of Halima Yussuf Mucheke’s appointment as chairman to the board.
In other appointments, Amaco Insurance board chair Silas Simatwo was appointed as the chairperson of Digital Health Agency that has been created under the new SHIF laws and will also serve a period of three years.
Shukran Gure was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Fisheries Service for three years as William Baraza and Gregory Ganda were appointed as members of the Digital Health Agency for three years.
Francis Chachu Ganya was appointed to be a member of the Kenya Wildlife Service Board for three years.
President William Ruto further appointed commander of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla as chairman of presidential taskforce on the Development of Kenya Home of Human Origins Museum and Science Park in the Lake Turkana Basin steering committee.
