Concerted efforts needed to reduce illicit brew and substance abuse

Residents in Rachuonyo East Sub County have been urged to help government fight against illicit brew as a civic responsibility.

The assistant county commissioner (ACC) James Maina said this will help reduces cases of illicit brew, drug and substance abuse in the sub county.

“We want to have a country free of illicit brew,” he said.

The commissioner urged the residents to remain calm and vigilant as they also work together with the security teams to end the menaceHe was speaking during a public Baraza for the handing over and taking over ceremony for the Kakang’utu west location chief at Nyarabi primary school ground.

Kakang’utu west location hived off from the larger Ramba location headed by Chief Joseph Ndege will now have a new location to be headed by the new Chief, Peter Ng’ong’aGorrety Achieng, the OCS Othoro Police Station present in the event also called on the residents of Kakangutu location to support village elders in their effort to reduce illicit brew in their locality.

The OCS reminded the new chief of the need to be strong and always work within the law“I will work with everyone to fulfill the government agenda,” Mr. Ong’ong’a assured the gathering.

The event was attended by the director Utalii college Mr. Odek Odek,Ass. Chief Elisha Riany,Kowidi west sub -location, Ass.chiefCharles Muma Kakang’utu west sub- location, Ass.
