Education office begins search for E graders in Kericho to join colleges

Bureti, Friday, March 15, 2024 KNA by Sarah NjagiThe Ministry of Education Kericho office has embarked on a search of all candidates who scored grade E in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with the aim of finding and enrolling them to vocational training centers.

Speaking at his office, Kericho County Director of Education (CDE) Julius Ngoneshi said they had teamed up with the local administrators in a major mop up exercise to flush out the E graders transit to join Technical Education and Training (TVET) institutions within the County.

Ngoneshi revealed that the data collection from all the schools in the County had commenced until a detailed report is obtained and action will be taken to see to it that the former candidates continue with their education.

“The county is continuing with an analysis to determine the number of Es in the six sub-counties notably Ainamoi, Belgut, Londiani, Kipkelion, Bureti and Soin/Sigowet sub-counties. There is no excuse for any student to remain at home.” said Ngoleshi. Education Cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu while releasing the 2023 KCSE examination results in January regretted that 48, 174 candidates scored E out of the 899, 453 who sat for the national exam while directing for an investigation into the poor performance.

Kericho County has 251 public secondary schools.
