Grace Kuria Announces CGTN Africa Exit

Celebrated journalist Grace Kuria has announced her exit from China-owned international media house China Global Television Network (CGTN) which has its Africa division (CGTN Africa) based in Nairobi Kenya – formerly known as CCTV.

Taking to her Twitter page on Monday, September 20, 2021, the journalist announced that she was departing CGTN, barely a year after she joined.

“Today I leave @cgtnafrica a better person than I was months ago, with greater insight on digital media. Forever grateful for the opportunity. Excited about the next phase of my career. God takes all the glory,” she tweeted.

In January , Grace announced her departure from KTN on live television. She had worked at the station for two years since leaving K24 in 2019.

“I take this opportunity to say thank you to God, thank you to my family. Thank you to Standard Group management. Thank you to my colleagues and thank you to you, my viewer, for all the love, criticism, and words of encouragement.

“What has a beginning has an end and this has been my last broadcast on KTN News and KTN Home. God bless you,” Grace tweeted then.

A source close to her has since indicated that the celebrated journalist may be on her way to join BBC.

Over the years, we have witnessed some of the top local talent get poached by international media houses, leaving us proud of the milestones the industry continues to accomplish locally while making a global mark.

This has been greatly encouraged by the hard work put in by the journalists themselves and media companies in Kenya in ensuring the delivery of quality news to members of the public.
