I’m safe! Isaac Mwaura speaks on his chopper’s emergency landing incident

Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has come out to put things straight following reports that a chopper he was using experienced a mechanical problem.

Reports indicated that the helicopter which Mwaura was in was forced into an emergency landing in Kikuyu on Tuesday.

PIn a statement on Wednesday, the office of the government spokesperson admitted that it’s head was in the said chopper.

However, he said he was safe.Mwaura further said the chopper had to land due to poor weather conditions in the area.

He was on a mission to distribute food to individuals affected by floods.

“The Spokesman Hon Dr. Isaac Mwaura is safe,” read part of the statement.

“The helicopter plane that him & Idriss Ahmed the Kenya Redcross SG were using from Nyando had to make an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu Constituency due to poor weather conditions,” it added.

Mwaura and the Kenya Red Cross team was in Kisumu on Tuesday where they distributed food and other items to at least 400 locals left homeless after River Nyando broke its banks.

The support was through a partnership between the County Government of Kisumu, the Kenya Red Cross Society and the national government.

“Issuing the Daily Floods Situation Update from Nduru Secondary School in Nyando Constituency, Kisumu County and also Leading the distribution of Non Food Items to 441 Floods Affected Persons (FAPs), who have been affected by the overflow of River Nyando,” Mwaura said in a post on his X handle.

“The government in collaborating with with the County Government of Kisumu and the Kenya Redcross in responding to the humanitarian emergency across the country. The NFIs include: Kitchen set, blankets, a mini tent, a water purifier, bar soap, blankets, mosquito nets, dignity pack, lesso, torch etc,” he added.
