Kendu Bay court will be fully operational by July 1, 2024 Oyugis Magistrate Samson Ongeri has said.
Ongeri said the court, built through Karachuonyo CDF funds, is complete and therefore ready for use.
“A team from Nairobi assessed the building and found it okey,” the magistrate said during the Court Users Committee (CUC) meeting held in the building adding the court would be opened by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Ongeri said come July 1, a magistrate and other staff would be deployed to the court, and the residents would no longer be required to travel to Oyugis law court to seek justice.
“We are grateful to the area MP for delivering his pledge,” Magistrate Ongeri said as he asked other stakeholders to find offices around the court for smooth service delivery.
The building now to house the Kendu Bay law court was built at an estimated cost of Sh3 million from the Karachuonyo NG –CDF.
Since 2016, there have been calls from leaders and the residents for the Judiciary to hasten the process of having a permanent court in Rachuonyo North Sub County.
They argued that the presence of a court in Kendu Bay would help reduce cost to residents who were forced to follow up cases at the law courts in Oyugis.
In 2018, former CJ David Maraga had promised to build a court in Kendu Bay immediately land acquisition process was complete.
The CJ had then responded to Adipo Kuome the Karachuonyo MP who requested him to bring judicial services close to the people when they met in the region.
