The Kenyan entertainment industry has come together in a heartfelt show of support for the family of Fred Omondi, who tragically passed away following a boda boda accident.
Prominent figures like Churchill, Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor (Jalang’o), and Eric Omondi have led the efforts, raising KSh 453,500 to assist the grieving family.Fred Omondi, the brother of renowned comedian Eric Omondi, died on Saturday, June 15.
According to a police report, the accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. near Caltex Petrol Station, where the boda boda Fred was riding collided head-on with a Forward Sacco bus.
The news has left the Kenyan entertainment community and fans united in grief.Among the significant contributors, Eric Omondi made the largest donation of KSh 150,000.
Churchill, another influential figure in the comedy scene, donated KSh 100,000. Jalang’o, also known for his comedic talent and political career, was a key participant in the fundraising effort.
To honor Fred Omondi’s memory, the comedians from the Churchill Show have organized a special event dubbed “One More Laugh for Fred” at Carnivore.
Scheduled for this Friday at 6 p.m., the event will require a KSh 1,000 entry fee, with proceeds likely aiding Fred’s family further.
Churchill announced the event on social media, encouraging fans and friends to come together for one final celebration of Fred’s life and legacy.
“This Friday from 6 p.m. at Carnivore. So many things happening, so soon. Sad. But this Friday, let’s do for Freddy one more time like never before. We shall all be there! See you then,” Churchill shared in his post.
Fred’s sudden death has raised questions among his close friends and family. His best friend, 2mbili, expressed confusion over why Fred was using a motorbike so early in the morning.
Eric Omondi also shared his pain, recounting that he initially believed Fred was still alive when he arrived at the hospital and criticized authorities for not being forthcoming with information.
