Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale has waded into the ongoing political wars boiling within the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.
The wars have seen senior politicians in the coalition engage in public spat.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been leading one faction of the coalition that has accused politicians close to President William Ruto from Rift Valley region of plotting to destabilise Mount Kenya leadership.
The plot, some of the DP Gachagua allies claim, involves young politicians. But according to the Senate majority whip, the current happenings within the coalition has nothing to do with politics.
Khalwale claims it’s all about politicians scrambling for access to government business opportunities.
“Forget what these guys want Kenyans to believe,” the Senator said in a post on his X handle.
“Their fight is nothing but pure scramble for access to government business opportunities,” he added.
While DP Gachagua has maintained his relationship with Ruto is intact, political analysts argue all is not well.During his recent visit to Eldoret town, the President’s home town, the second in command sounded a warning shot to those seeking to plan for the Mount Kenya region.
“Mimi naomba watu wa bonde la ufa, tafadhali, sisi tuliunga Rais mkono kwa hiari yetu na kwa kupenda na tunaendelea kumuunga mkono.
Tunaomba heshima kidogo, msijaribu kutupangia siasa ya Mlima Kenya na kuptupangia uongozi,” Gachagua.
