Kindiki vows justice for murdered Meru blogger

Kindiki vows justice for murdered Meru blogger

By Peter Ochieng

Cabinet Secretary (CS) for interior and national administration Abraham Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday gave an update of the case on the murder of Meru blogger, Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

Sniper was reported to have disappeared on December 02, 2023, before his body was discovered on December 16.

Addressing Senators when he appeared before the Senate, Kindiki said five suspects linked to the murder are currently in police custody, adding that the state has a water tight case against them.

He denied claims that the case had been delayed. He assured the country that anyone involved in the murder, whether in police custody or not, will ultimately be brought to book.

“Honourable Speaker, investigations were commenced immediately after the report was made and from the foregoing, it is not true that there has been a delay in investigations. What there has been is that we believe this is a very complicated crime,” stated Kindiki.

“There could have been other people beyond the five who may have been responsible but we are yet to establish any direct or circumstantial evidence to open additional charges for any additional people. For the five we have a watertight murder case against the five.”

The CS added that no one will interfere with the case, at any particular stage.

“We will not allow crime to thrive because of interference. Nobody is powerful enough to interfere with statecraft, especially on National security.”

Some Kenyans especially online accused Meru governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza of having a hand in the murder of the slain blogger.

She came out strongly to deny the allegations, insisting that her hands were clean.

“Calm in the midst of the storm. Lies can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on shoes. We shall overcome gloriously with God’s grace,” she said.

“They have come with another means. They tried impeachment without succession, they try to bring us down with cases but they were defeated, they attempted to kill us but they failed,” she added.
