Governor Tana River County Rtd Major Dhado Godana has said that lack of medical drugs being experienced in the health facilities in the County could not be solved by the County government because the demand was very high compared to supply.

Governor Godana said the problem would be solved jointly between the County government and private hospitals because the County does not have enough funds to purchase drugs.

Speaking at Hola Redeemed Gospel Church after a Sunday service yesterday, the Governor said the planed demonstration against the County Government over lack of drugs in the health facilities was not a solution because the County government has no funds to buy more drugs than what has been allocated currently.

Godana appealed to private hospitals and Non-governmental Organisations to open health facilities in Tana River County in order to supplement the County government efforts on the health sector. On water, the Governor said the ongoing water shortage in Hola town and Madogo town was as a result of power disconnection at the water plant due to high electricity bills whereby the County government could not managed to pay, therefore the County government is planning to install solar panels at the water plant in Hola to reduce the high bills charged by Kenya Power Company.

Currently Hola town and other surrounding areas have gone without water for the past one week following the disconnection of power at the Plant due to accumulation of electricity bill of about Sh5.5million, Tana River Water Sewerage Company managing director Eng. William Jillo has confirmed.

Eng. Jillo has said the Water Company was unable to pay the bills because the monthly collection from the water consumers was not enough to meet the bills.

However, the Company has urged the County Government to intervene and pay the bills, he said.
