Miguna Miguna hits out at Sakaja for filing case against Jerotich Seii

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has hit out at Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja over his decision to sue activist Jerotich Seii.

Sakaja recently filed a defamation case against Seii.

Court documents indicate that the Nairobi Governor wants the activist to pay him Ksh100 million for defamation.

But responding to the decision, Miguna has described it as an attempt by Sakaja to silence his critics.

“This is ridiculous and reprehensible, Johnson Sakaja. You are trying to intimidate and muzzle,@JerotichSeii, for her active advocacy and attempt to bring you to account, as one she pays to provide services to her? Shame on you!,” the controversial lawyer said.

Seii has been sued alongside Standard Media Group.

Sakaja in the suit claims the activist made defamatory utterances against him during an interview on Spice FM, one of the Standard Media Group’s Radio Stations.

The utterances were about the recent high-rise buildings in affluent Nairobi estates. According to Sakaja, Seii said he was colluding with the Chinese Property Developers Association.

He also accused Spice FM presenters of failing to contain their host.

“The community are organised, they do public participation informing the developers that you are not going to construct here and send them away somehow, these guys end up getting permission/permits that they require and finally after launching the association and going to visit the Governor Sakaja in his office, the following day all permits were issued and they are excavating as we speak,” the activist is quoted to have said during the show hosted by Eric Latiff, Ndu Okoh and Charles T Muga.

The case has been filed at the Nairobi High Court.

Earlier in the day, Seii shared copies of the legal suit on her verified X handle.

She said, “My fellow Nairobians: It goes something like this. Jerotich Seii: “Governor Sakaja – do your job. Provide information. Govern. Lead. Plan. Don’t pander. Address the chaos.” Etc, etc. Governor Sakaja: sues me for defamation and wants Ksh100,000,000 Are we going to stop fighting for our rights?”
