Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has fired a subtle salvo at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. This is in regards to the renewed debate over the one man one shilling matter.

DP Gachagua over the weekend declared that he was in support of the push.

But on Monday, Kuria, without directly mentioning the second in command said if the region was serious about the issue, it would not take even a week to be implemented.

The controversial CS argued that the region enjoys a huge share of the government and pushing the one man,one vote one shilling matter would not be a challenge.

“Out region has produced the sitting deputy President and 9 cabinet Secretaries. What other powers would we be looking for?” Moses Kuria said.

“We are government and we can implement one man one vote one shilling by Friday if we are serious. Let us he honest with our people,” he added.

Push for the one man, one vote one shilling philosophy was a key component in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that the courts declared unconstitutional.

Most of the proponents of the philosophy are from the Mount Kenya region which is populous.

The argument has been that the region does not get a fair fair or the national cake.

It’s a similar sentiment that was shared by DP Gachagua over the weekend.

“It cannot be that Ruiru constituency with a population of 800,000 people will get the same amount in Constituency Development Fund as a constituency with 14,000, it’s not fair,” he said on Sunday.
