Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka now says he will not relent in pursuit of action against individuals responsible for the fake fertilizer scam.
The MP was the sponsor of the motion that sought to impeach Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.
Linturi was however absolved of any wrongdoing in the matter by a majority of the 11-member national assembly select committee.
The committee tabled it’s report on Monday clearing the CS.
But despite the committee letting him off the hook, the Bumula legislator insists there are many ways he could still pursue the matter.
He however did not share a hint of his next move.
“We will not tire until justice is served to Kenyan farmers and Linturi dismissed. There are many ways of killing a rat, some will use poison, others will burn the house but some will sit on it,” said the Azimio-allied legislator in a post on his verified X handle.
According to the MP, the fake fertilizer issue is a major one to be wished away.
Under the scandal, farmers were sold substandard fertilizer from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).Already top NCPB officials including Managing Director Joseph Kimote have been arrested and charged.
But the Bumula MP believes the bigger fish was let go of the scam.
“We will not relent in pursuit of this fake fertilizer scandal that has rendered farmers hopeless and endangered the country’s food security,” he said, adding that “There is no doubt that all evidence and witnesses proofed beyond reasonable doubt that Linturi as the head of the docket was liable for the mess, scam and failures.”
144 MPs had supported a motion to ouster the CS.
But with the select committee saving him, he can now continue executing his mandate, at least before the Bumula legislator makes his move against him.
