The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has dismissed reports that it has summoned Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua.
On Thursday, May 23, 2024, a letter purported to be from NCIC made rounds on various social media pages.
The letter had indicated that the agency was summoning the 2022 Azimio coalition running mate over her recent meeting.
But NCIC sharing the letter that had been flagged as fake said, “We dissociate from the following information making rounds!.”
The Narc Kenya Party leader also reposted the post on her verified X handle.
Karua was among the conveners of the Limuru III meeting that was held last week at Jumuia Resorts.
The meeting saw several Mount Kenya politicians attend. It was claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was the one who financed it.
During the meeting, the leaders present announced the formation of a new political outfit – Haki Coalition.
They declared Uhuru as their defacto Mount Kenya leader.
“We now have an umbrella body dubbed Haki Coalition, it will bring all parties in Mount Kenya together and we will be speaking in one voice,” said Jubilee Party Secretary Genera Jeremiah Kioni.
They further said the coalition will focus on vouching for the “one man, one vote, one shilling” revenue-sharing formula.
The debate that dominated the infamous Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which the courts declared unconstitutional was recently revived by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua openly said he fully supports the one-man, one-vote, one-shilling formula.
““In matters of revenue sharing, I firmly believe in one-man-one-vote-one-shilling. It’s a straightforward concept: the more people there are in an area, and the more taxes they contribute, the more funding they deserve to receive,” Gachagua stated.
“The push for this formula is not just about our region’s high population but because it is the right thing to do. We are committed to ensuring fairness in the sharing of national revenue,” he added.
