The National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) in Narok County have been reminded of their critical role in disseminating government policies at the grassroots.

Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia said the chiefs played a critical role in ensuring all the residents under their jurisdiction are familiar with government programmes and that they adhere to them accordingly.

He spoke at the Narok Teachers’ Training College where he met with Deputy County Commissioners, Assistant Deputy Commissioners, Chiefs, and their assistants from the area.

The speaker highlighted the government’s implementation of programs like the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) to ensure easy access to quality medical care for all residents.

The chiefs were also challenged to inform the people of the presidential directive of planting over 15 billion tree seedlings in ten years so that they could embark on the exercise of planting trees on their farms.

“As the government’s grassroots spokesperson, it is crucial to consistently communicate current government policies to the public, ensuring they understand and appreciate the government’s efforts,” said Lotiatia.

The administrators were asked to champion the ongoing fight against illicit brewing warning officers who may attempt to scuttle the state’s effort saying such saboteurs will face the law.

“As the government’s eyes on the ground, you should lead in mapping the production, transportation, and consumption of illicit drugs and substance abuse,” reiterated the CC.

The chiefs and their assistants were also asked to ensure that all school-going children went to school as per the school’s calendar, noting that any parent who fails to take their children to school should be arrested.

The CC, who recently met with county administrators, urged officers to improve security in their jurisdictions by utilizing all available tools to safeguard people’s lives and property.
