President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that he is the right man to lead the country to a new level.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service in Narok County, Ruto also asked Kenyans not to worry about the current happenings in the country.
In an apparent reference to the ongoing Gen Z-led protests, the Head of State said they are part of the journey to transform the country.
While expressing optimism for a better Kenya, Ruto noted that the country has stagnated for long because of leader’s inability to make the right decisions.
“This country Kenya will change, and don’t worry, what you’re witnessing today is part of the journey towards transformation,” the President told congregants.
“We have stagnated because of us not making a decision of what we want,” he added.
He spoke at a time the country is facing an unprecedented protests that have already led to the withdrawal of the contentious 2024 Finance Bill.
The protests were staged for the last two weeks, culminating in President Ruto declining to sign the Bill into law.
Despite the bill being withdrawn, a section of young Kenyans have still vowed to continue with the protests.
They are set to state yet another protests this week. This is even as the government announced plans to set up a secretariat that will guide engagement with the youth and address their issues.
However, the protests have led to deaths of at least 20 people with tens others receiving treatment in various hospitals.
Property worth millions of shillings have also been destroyed during the protests.
