National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi has called for speedy investigations to unearth what caused the helicopter crash that killed military Chief Francis Ogolla.
Wandayi said the nation has been thrown into mourning following the tragic news calling for thorough and independent investigations to unravel the mystery.
The legislator suggested that the Federal Investigations Bureau (FBI) and other international investigation agencies of repute must be brought on board to expedite the process.
“If there was any hand involved in the incident we want it exposed and if this is not possible by the local agencies we shall demand that we bring in FBI and other intarnational organizations of repute,” he said.
Addressing the public at Mamboleo in Kisumu County, the legislator said the Luo community has been worst hit by the demise of the four star general adding that no effort should be spared to bring to light what transpired.
“We the Luo community are the most aggrieved under these circumstances. We have lost our sons in the past under similar circumstances but we have not been able to get answers,” he said.
” We are within our rights to demand for justice the family of the late Francis Ogolla and the Luo community at large,” he said.
His remarks come a day after President Dr. William Ruto announced that a team from the Kenya Airforce had been dispatched to the area where the accident occurred to establish the cause if the crash.
The helicopter came down in Elgeyo Marakwet County, shortly after takeoff.
Ogolla was appointed in April of last year after serving as the commander of the air force and Deputy Chief of Defence Forces.
President Ruto described his chief military adviser as a gallant officer who had died in the line of duty.
Ogolla first joined the Kenya Defence Forces on 24th April 1984 and was due to mark 40 years in the military next week.
