Safaricom has announced resumption of its full network capacity and stability.
This follows last Sunday’s undersea cable cuts that affected some of its services.
In a statement, Safaricom said the stability was achieved after they acquired additional capacity undersea cable providers.
“We sincerely thank our engineers for working round the clock to keep the country connected through optimization and quickly onboarding additional capacity from the undersea cables,” said Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa.
But even as the telecommunications giants annjce resumption of full network capacity and stability, it said “we continue to monitor our network to ensure stability of services as we work closely with impacted undersea cable suppliers for a faster resolution on the repair works.”
The company also apologised to its customers who may have experienced slower than expected speeds on its network dueinf the period.
“We thank them for being patient as we worked to get back to normal,” Ndegwa said.
Damage on the undersea cable has led to disruption of internet services to most service providers in the country.
Most Kenyans have since been witnessing slower than normal internet speeds since Sunday when the damage on the undersea cable was reported.
The latest announcement by Safaricom will come as a relief to many Kenyans who depend on their internet for various services.
