Suspect Hospitalised After Jumping From 3rd Floor to Evade Police Arrest

A man who allegedly jumped off his balcony to evade arrest by police is currently nursing serious injuries of broken limbs at the Mama Lucy hospital.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday ,September 27, the man named Dismus Mong’are escaped death by a whisker ,after he leapt from his kitchen balcony at Amani apartment in Embakasi.

According to the DCI, Sergeant Rose Mwanzia in the company of Constable Geoffrey Koros had gone earlier to the Victims house to arrest him for obtaining money by false pretense, when Mong’are he appeared from the bedroom naked in a bid to trick the officers to give him more time to dress up and cook his plan.

However, after putting on a pair of denim pants and a checked shirt, Mong’are mischievously dashed to the kitchen and flew from the balcony!  He landed on the ground with a thud breaking several limbs.

 “Determined to accomplish her mission, Sergeant Mwanzia, almost followed suit but when she saw the suspect writhing on the ground in pain, opted to take the flight of stairs three at one go to restrain the suspect from getting away or harming himself further,” read the detectives’ statement in part. 

The police he was running away from became the first people to attend to him to offer first aid services to him before rushing him to the hospital for specialized attention.

The Embakasi based officers wished Mong’are a quick recovery as he contends with his current condition. However, the police are also preparing his file so that he can answer to charges against him of obtaining money through false pretense contrary to section 313 of the penal code.
