The National Police Service has intensified ongoing operations aimed at keeping Nairobi streets safe.

A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday revealed that two more individuals linked to criminal activities within the city had been arrested.

This followed an earlier arrest of two others.

The latest suspects were arrested within Dandora Phase IV and the Eastlands area, a move the DCI says comes as a sigh of relief to the locals within the two areas.

Police have since connected the two suspects to the recent murder of an innocent young man, reported to have taken place on March 7, 2024.

“Following a brief interrogation of two key suspects in the murder most foul, detectives based at DCI Starehe have arrested Malcom Omondi Odhiambo of MJ Investments and Justus Muema Mutungi of Neema shop in Dandora Phase IV,” the DCI said in the statement.

The arrests were made after painstaking investigations led sleuths to Malcom’s business shop. A phone belonging to the murder victim was found in the shop.

Police say the phone was robbed by the and later sold out by him to Justus who was arrested in its possession.

“From the shops of the two suspects, a total of 95 assorted mobile phones believed to be stolen property were confiscated,” noted the police.

“The operation to keep our streets safe continues,” DCI added.

On Saturday, two other suspects, also linked to the murder incident were arrested.

DCI in a statement described the two as notorious criminals.

They were arrested following efforts of a combined team of detectives drawn from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau from the Nairobi region, DCI Starehe and General duty officers.

“The two were wanted following the murder of a young man in the wee hours of Thursday, March 7, 2024,” noted the police.

Investigations have revealed that the trio were walking in the same direction and after a disagreement, one of them drew a knife and stabbed the other on the left side of the chest.

The suspects, Nehemiah Odhiambo, alias Oti and Emmanuel Otieno, alias Emasu fled from the scene but the victim who sustained a deep cut on the left side of the chest succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment at Baba Dogo health facility.

“The two suspects who fled the scene after the heinous act were smoked from their hideouts in Baraka estate and Kwa Bhajia areas in Dandora have been linked to a spate of criminal activities that have been reported in Baba Dogo, Huruma and Lucky Summer” noted the DCI.

The operations come days after the US embassy in Nairobi issued a security alert over the safety of Nairobi estates.

While issuing the alert, the embassy asked US Citizens within Nairobi to take precautions among them not displaying wealth, and locking car windows and doors while in traffic.
