Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has claimed that most of the politicians get elected into office because of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Alai argues that in one of or the other, Raila has played a role in the election of at least 80 percent of current politicians both in the opposition and government side.
In a post on his verified X handle, formerly Twitter, the former blogger noted that with the current bid by Raila to be the next African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson, most of the politicians wish he fails.
He claimed more UDA leaders want Raila not to go to AUC than those within his political side – Azimio because of the political implications.
“We politicians fear Baba @RailaOdinga going to AU because 80% of us get elected because we either support or oppose him,” the ODM ward representative in the Nairobi City County said.
“UDA politicians wants Raila to remain here more than even the ODM aligned colleagues,” he added.
Raila is being fronted for the continental post by the government.
President William Ruto and his allies has declared his support for the former Prime Minister and has since started campaigning for him across the country.
Some argue that should Raila succeed to be the next AUC chairperson, he will exit the local politics.
However, the ODM leader is on record insisting that he is not about to shelve his presidential ambitions.
Raila’s political influence in the country remains unmatched.
Many politicians have made a name for themselves either by supporting or opposing Raila.
In his Nyanza bastion for example, a politician seen as the most vocal when supporting the former Prime Minister is usually almost assured of securing a Perth ticket.
But in the Mount Kenya region, opposing Raila is always a political bonus.
