The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members in Gem constituency will not allow people with questionable loyalty to the party to contest for positions in the forthcoming party polls, Siaya County Member of the National Assembly Dr. Christine Ombaka has said.
Dr. Ombaka said that only loyal and genuine members would be trusted with party positions and warned those who have since ditched ODM and were planning to plant their men during the party elections not to waste their time.
Speaking during the ODM Gem branch delegates meeting at Wagai trading centre, the legislator said that traitors have no place in the party adding that the locals would not allow such people to hold positions only to jump ship and join the opponents at the hour of need.
She said that the branch was fully prepared to host a free and fair election and called on the youth, women and persons with disability to come forward and contest for the leadership positions.
Speaking at the occasion, Gem ODM branch chairman Mr. Nick Ochola said they have information that some people who have since ditched the party were planning to infiltrate the process and cause chaos.
Ochola said that elections would be conducted through universal suffrage right from the polling stations and urged party members to take part.The ODM party elections are slated for April 27, 2024.
