Interior Cabinet Secretary prof. Kithure Kindiki has issued a statement regarding the IED explosive attack launched in El Wak Mandera county on Monday evening.
Kindiki noted that the attack killed five civilians causing life – threatening injuries to five others.
The bomb was launched terrorists planted on a donkey cart to avoid detection which caught the casualties off guard.
The Ministry of Interior noted that the crime scene has been sealed off for evacuation and investigations while various security formations are in pursuit of the attackers
The CS also addressed the efforts to conduct search for survivors of the Madogo tragedy in which a boat capsized leaving two dead.
Kindiki noted that so far, 23 people have been rescued with families whose relatives may still be missing asked to make missing person reports at the nearest Police Station.
Furthermore, Kindiki noted that the landslide tragedy in Kamuchuri has claimed over 70 lives with 45 bodies already retrieved. Authorities have rescued Over 110 persons with search and rescue efforts underway.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has urged civilians to report any cases of insecurities or disaster risks to relevant authorities.
